1. Why doesn't Epoch detect when I hit my limit?

Because no iPhone app can. iOS gives apps no way to observe what happens inside another company's app or website — there is no API, no background hook, and no screen-reading path. Any app claiming to watch your Claude or ChatGPT usage on iPhone alone is either asking you to sign in to that service, or syncing the numbers from a Mac.

Epoch does neither. You tell it when your tool resets, and it makes that fact impossible to miss. That is the whole design, not a limitation we are working around, and it is why Epoch needs no sign-in, no API key and no account.

To keep declaring fast, Epoch ships presets for common tools with their published reset schedules already filled in. Pick your tool, tap once, and the countdown starts.

2. Timers and alerts

A timer reached zero but I wasn't told

• Check Settings › Notifications › Epoch on your iPhone and confirm alerts are allowed.
• Each timer chooses its own alert style. A Notification is quiet and respects Focus and silent mode. An Alarm breaks through both. Open the timer to change which one it uses.
• Alarms ask permission the first time you choose one on a specific timer, not when you first open the app. If you declined then, iOS Settings is where to grant it.
• iOS caps how many alerts any one app can have scheduled at once. If you run a lot of timers with a lot of repeats, Epoch's Settings screen shows how many are currently armed against that budget, and the soonest ones are always the ones kept.

What does pausing actually do?

It holds your countdown and banks the time you had left, so resuming hands back the remainder rather than starting a fresh cycle.

It does not pause the provider's window. Anthropic's and OpenAI's cycles keep running whatever Epoch is doing — nothing on your phone can change that. Pause is for when you step away and want the timer to wait with you.

A preset's reset time looks wrong

Providers change their limits, sometimes quietly. Every preset carries a confidence label showing whether it was checked against official documentation or reported by the community, and one that has not been re-checked recently is marked as stale rather than presented as fact.

You can always override a preset: set any window on the dial, or give Epoch an exact date and time.

3. Purchases

Nothing is hidden while you are on the free tier. Every locked feature stays visible and stays tappable, so you can always see what you are not buying.

Pro is offered as a monthly subscription, a yearly subscription with a free trial, or a single lifetime purchase. Current prices are shown in the App Store and inside the app.

I paid, but Pro isn't active

Open Settings in Epoch and tap Restore purchase. This works on a new iPhone, after reinstalling, and after a subscription renews. Make sure you are signed in to the same Apple Account that made the purchase.

If it still does not activate, email us with the date of purchase and which product you bought, and we will sort it out.

How do I cancel or change a subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us. Epoch's Settings screen has a Manage subscription link when you have one, or use apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions.

Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends to avoid the next renewal. A lifetime purchase is a one-time payment and never renews.

Refunds

All purchases go through Apple, so refunds are Apple's to issue. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. Tell us as well if something went wrong — it usually points at a bug worth fixing.

4. Devices and requirements

• Epoch requires iOS 26 and runs on iPhone. There is no iPad, Mac or Apple Watch version yet.
• Timers do not sync between devices. They live on the iPhone that created them. They are included in your ordinary encrypted device backup, so restoring a backup or moving to a new iPhone keeps them.
• Deleting the app deletes your timers. We hold no copy and cannot recover them.

5. Privacy, briefly

No account, no sign-in, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. Epoch cannot see your usage in any AI tool, and your timers never leave your device.

Two things do leave, and neither one is a timer: a purchase, handled by Apple and our payments provider using an anonymous identifier, and a periodic download of the public preset catalog, which sends nothing about you. The full detail is in the Privacy Policy.

6. Reporting a bug

Email shapingedge.apps@gmail.com. It helps enormously to include:

• Your iPhone model and iOS version (Settings › General › About)
• Epoch's version number, shown at the bottom of Epoch's Settings screen
• What you did, what you expected, and what happened instead
• A screenshot, if the problem is something you can see
