BioMap — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 22 July 2026
BioMap ("BioMap", "we", "us", or "our") is a personal blood-test tracking app for iOS. This Privacy Policy explains what information BioMap handles, how it is used, and the choices and rights you have. We have designed BioMap to be private by default: your health information is stored in your own Apple iCloud account, and we — the developer — cannot access it.
By using BioMap you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. Who is responsible for your data
BioMap is published by Rudra Jikadra, based in Australia. For any privacy question or request, contact us at getbiomap@gmail.com.
2. Information BioMap handles
- Health information you enter or upload. Blood-test biomarker values, units, test dates, reference ranges, notes, and the original report files (PDFs or camera scans) you choose to add.
- Profile details. The name, biological sex, optional photo, colour, blood type, and any medical history note (long-term conditions or medications) you set for each profile (for example, yourself or a family member).
- Purchase information. Whether you hold an active BioMap Pro subscription or the Lifetime purchase, and an anonymous identifier used to manage it. We never see or store your payment card details — Apple handles all payments.
- Camera. If you scan a paper report, the camera is used only to capture that image, and for no other purpose.
- Photo library. If you choose "Upload Report Photos", BioMap receives only the images you specifically select through Apple's photo picker. It has no access to the rest of your photo library.
- Apple Health (optional, read-only). If you grant permission, BioMap reads your weight and blood pressure from Apple Health so they can appear alongside your biomarker trends. BioMap never writes to Apple Health. This data is stored only on your device, is never synced to iCloud, never sent to us or any third party, and is never used for advertising. You can revoke access at any time in the Health app.
- Reminders. Any reminder you create for a test, appointment, or follow-up is stored only on your device and delivered as a local notification. Reminders are not synced to iCloud and are never sent to us.
BioMap does not include advertising SDKs, does not track you across other apps or websites, and does not build advertising profiles.
3. Where your information is stored
Your health information and profiles are stored in your device and in your private Apple iCloud (CloudKit) database, encrypted and tied to your personal Apple Account. This storage is controlled by Apple on your behalf. We do not operate servers that hold your health data, and we cannot read, copy, or sell it.
Some information is deliberately kept on your device only and is never placed in iCloud: data read from Apple Health (weight and blood pressure) and any reminders you create.
4. Optional AI reading of reports (Google Gemini)
When you upload a PDF or scan a paper report, BioMap can read the values automatically using Google's Gemini AI. Before this happens for the first time, BioMap shows you a consent screen and will not send anything until you agree.
- What is sent: the contents of the report file you upload and the biomarker values read from it.
- Where it goes: Google's Gemini API processes the file and returns the extracted values. This processing is performed by Google and is subject to Google's Privacy Policy and applicable Google API terms.
- How it is used: solely to read your results so they can be tracked in the app. The data is not used by BioMap for advertising and is never sold.
- Your choice: if you decline, no file is sent. You can still add results by CSV import or manual entry, which are processed entirely on your device.
5. Service providers we rely on
- Apple — iCloud storage, app distribution, and payment processing.
- Google — AI extraction of uploaded reports, only with your consent (see Section 4).
- RevenueCat — manages your subscription status on our behalf. RevenueCat receives purchase events and an anonymous app user ID; it does not receive your health information. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
6. How we use information
Information is used only to provide and improve BioMap's features: storing and displaying your results, generating trend charts and plain-language observations, exporting reports you ask for, and managing your subscription. We do not use your health information for marketing, advertising, or automated decision-making about you.
7. Retention and deletion
Your data remains in your iCloud account until you delete it. You can remove data at any time from within the app (Settings → delete options, including "Delete All Profiles & Data"), or by deleting the app and removing its iCloud data from your Apple Account settings. Because we do not hold your health data, deletion is under your control.
8. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to withdraw consent. Because your data lives in your own iCloud account and within the app, you can exercise most of these directly in BioMap. For anything else, contact us at getbiomap@gmail.com.
- Australia — handled in line with the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). Health information is treated as sensitive information.
- India — rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, including withdrawal of consent and erasure.
- Canada — rights under PIPEDA.
- United States — rights under applicable state laws (for example, California's CCPA/CPRA). We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.
9. Children
BioMap is not directed to children. If you add a profile for a minor (for example, a child in your family), you are responsible for that information as the account holder.
10. Security
Your data is protected by Apple's device and iCloud encryption and by your Apple Account credentials. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we rely on Apple's platform protections and minimise the data that ever leaves your device.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Policy.
